Population Pharmacokinetics of Vancomycin in Intensive Care Patients with the Time-Varying Status of Temporary Mechanical Circulatory Support or Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy
Infectious Diseases and Therapy · 10.1007/s40121-024-01071-5
Structure
A two-compartment model, driven by weight, serum creatinine and ecmo.
Study population
Critically ill and ECMO patients — Asia. Fitted to 25 patients and 184 concentration observations.
| Covariate | As reported |
|---|---|
| Age | 61 (IQR 49–66) yr |
| Weight | 68.8 (IQR 61–82.1) kg |
| CrCl | 67 (IQR 42–90) mL/min |
| SCr | 1.1 (IQR 0.8–1.7) mg/dL |
Reported as the source publication gives them — mean ± SD, or median with range or interquartile range.
Equations
The model's structural parameters as Chorus implements them.

CL = 2.85 \cdot SCr^{-0.69} \cdot \left(\frac{Weight}{70}\right)^{0.73}
V_1 = 13.49
V_2 = 32.68
Q = 18.81 \cdot e^{-0.66 \cdot tMCS}
Implementation notes
ICU model (non-CRRT branch). tMCS lowers intercompartmental clearance to exp(-0.66) ≈ 0.52, driven by the ECMO tag (the cohort's tMCS was mostly VA ECMO); CRRT covariate on Vc excluded.
